Can You?

During the second day of the camp - Uncovering Potentials, Realising Dreams - I was suppose to give a talk on some kinda problems and suffering other people lived with and been through. It's something about poverty, homeless people, domestic violence, global warming and so on. So the speech is abit boring I thought cause I am suppose to be serious with the campers. Then after the speech we had a short Spiritual Walk and we come to an oath taking session. In this session we are suppose to promise ourselves that we will do our best to help all the people who are suffering around us.

The whole thing went well, and to us it is very touching. I don't know whether I had achieve the goal of touching their hearts but the thing is definitely touching. After the whole session and I went into my dorm, one song suddenly struck my mind. It's Never Let Go by Bryan Adams. This song is actually dedicated to the great people of US Coast Guards. Well for those who watched Guardian you will know what I am talking about. The ending was really touching. Especially these scenes.

The scene where Randall was holding on to Fischer on the air and the cable that holds them on is about to snap.

Fischer : I WON'T LET GO!
Randall : I know...

And Randall just opened his gloves and fell into the sea.

*Tears are actually rolling in my eyes when this scene is playing.

Another scene will be the very end part. Where Fischer just saved a man and they are in the helichopter.

The man : Where is he?
Fischer : Who?
The man : The other guy! He said he won't let go!
Fischer looks out and he had found his answer of why Randalls body was never recovered.

That wasn't as touching as the previous scene. However it's a pretty good ending.

Come back to the song. The very first line of the song suits the whole oath taking session alot but I couldn't play it cause there wasn't any player there.

Can you lay your life down, so a stranger could live.

This line, this line is more than enough for us. Now while you are listening to this song, read through the lyrics and take some time to think. Can you be one of us. One of us who pledge to help others who deserved to be helped. Help those less fortunate people out there. Can we do that? Can we?

Never Let Go - Bryan Adams
Can you lay your life down, so a stranger could live?
Can you take what you need, but take less than you give?
Could you close everyday, without the glory and fame?
Could you hold your head high, when no one knows your name?

That's how legends are made, at least that's what they say.
We say goodbye, but never let go.
We live, we die, cause you can't save every soul.
Gotta take every chance to, show that you're the kinda man who;
Will never look back, never look down and never let go.
Can you lose everything, you ever had planned?
Can you sit down again, and play another hand?
Could you risk everything, for the chance to be alone?
Under pressure find the grace, or would you come undone?
That's how legends are made, at least that's what they say.
We say goodbye, but never let go.
We live, we die, cause you can't save every soul.
Gotta take every chance to, show that you're the kinda man who;
Will never look back, never look down and never let go.
Gotta take every chance to, show that you're the kinda man who;
Will never look back, never look down and never let go.
We say goodbye, but never let go.
We live, we die, cause you can't save every soul.
Gotta take every chance to, show that you're the kinda man who;
Will never look back, never look down and never let go.
Will never look back, never look down and never let go.
After listening to this song, and if you say yes to all the questions asked in this song. Please take out a piece of paper and write down today's date and your name. Keep the piece of paper in your wallet or your purse. It's a reminder to yourself that you have made a vow to help the less fortunate people outside. Thank You.

Uncovering Potentials, Realising Dreams - The day before

It's been a hectic week for me last week. Having last minute prep for camps with my friends. Though I told them not to do last minute work but somehow we just can't change the fact that we are better off with last minute work. LOL. So we had a really last minute meeting like 2 days before the camp starts and had them prepare for our own style of Amazing Race and games and Spiritual Walk. Then I left for Taiping and came back the following day. Got a call from Kuang Ze (the real chairman for the camp) at 10 pm with a really last minute request.

KZ : Eh Robert ar, lu tonight wu lai temple boh? (Robert, are you coming to the temple tonite?)
TZ : Boh lar, mia cai kah khi. (Nope, I'll go tomorrow.)
KZ : Lu mia cai kui tiam eh lai? (What time can you come tomorrow?)
TZ : Lu ai wa kui tiam lai? (What time you want me to be there?)
KZ : Peh tiam eh boh? (8 am can?)
TZ : BEH LA! Before chap tiam la... Wa sure gau wan... (Can't la! Before 10 am, I sure reach wan.)
KZ : Sure har? Lu tomorrow ai prepare opening speech cai boh? (Sure har? You have to prepare for opening speech tomorrow, you know bout that?
TZ : (I was like... err...) OK la, cai liao cai liao... Wa later khi prepare... (Ok la, I get it already, I'll prepare it later.)
KZ : Ok ok, mia cai mang late har. (Ok, tomorrow don't be late.)

So I continued watching tv till it was like 11pm and starts to think what am I going to say on the opening of the camp? I switch the tv off and went online hoping I can get inspiration and tng tng! Ah lian ee is online, ju siao with her n see. Hahahaha. Chatted for quite sometime for the points and she went off. Still trying to put things together... tng tng... Jane came online. Ah ha! Another help came just in time. Hahahaha... So we discussed again for some time and she decided to hit the lights off. A very greatful thank you to both of you. If you want to know what is the speech like, stay tuned for the next part of this title.

I need to sleep more... Been up taking care of the cheeky campers till 4am yesterday.
